Very nice zinc World War 1 related tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier named E.Gassmann who was born on the 29th of July 1893 and lived on the Langestrasse 70 in Türkheim. He served within the 1.Württembergisches Landsturm Infanterie Bataillon Stuttgart XIII./2.
This unit was part of the XIII.Armeekorps and in 1914 saw combat in France (Longwy-Longuyon, Tellancourt, Verdun and Argonnen) and in Belgium in the Ypern area. In November 1914 the Armeekorps and her units moved to the east and fought in Poland and moved back to France in September 1915 and later also fought again in Belgium.
The tag is complete with its original neckcord.
