Both documents shows overall normal signs of wear. The set consist out of a Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz (awarded on 20.August 1943) for a wound he got on the 6th of August and a Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber (awarded on 18.Mai 1944) document for the wounds he got on the 20th of August. They were awarded to Obergreiten Franz Münst who served in the 9.Batterie (Nebel)Werfer Regiment 55. This regiment was formed in 1942 and send to Southern Russia. In November 1942 it fell under the LIX Armeekorps and was probably put into action in the Welish,Kiev and Shitomir areas. In July 1943 the regiment was put under the command of the II SS-Panzerkorps and fought in the Kursk area before it was moved to Northen Italy on the 3rd of August.
In that same month Franz was wounded 3 times. We think that after the 3rd time he got wounded he was not fit enough for front action and was send to M./Werfer Ers.u.Ausb.Abt.6. Hence the fact that he was awarded the silver woundbadge (9 months later!) whilst serving in this abteilung.
Stuff from Werfer Regiments are hard to find.
