The liner shows overall signs of wear. The leather is supple. The ring is size marked, maker marked and dated '1943'. It's size marked 58 which fits a 66 size helmet shell. The liner comes out of a helmet that was used by the firebrigade after the war and was painted red. Hence the remains of the red color on the linerband. Hardly visible when the liner is placed in a helmet shell.
