The document shows normal signs of wear. Complete with large sized portrait of Rudolf Albrecht who served in 1.Kompanie XVIII.Festungs-Infanterie-Bataillon 999. This bataillon was formed in December 1943 and was active on the Greek island of Corfu.
What makes this unit special is that, except for its staff, the soldiers where so-called 'Bewährungspersonal ' that where supplied by the Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon 999. Bewährungspersonal consisted out criminals and traitors.
In September 1944 the Festungs-Infanterie-Bataillon 999 was put into action in Albania.
Bewährungstruppe items are very hard to find.
