Very nice black leather Wehrmacht issued k98 ammo pouch in used, but very good condition.
The pouch shows overall normal signs of wear. The leather is supplie and solid. Complete with all straps. All the partitions on the inside are present. Maker marked on the back by 'Poeschl' from Rohrbach and dated 1941. A nametag of the soldier tells us that the pouch belonged to Schütze Bestmann who served in the 14.(Panzer-Abwehr) Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 37.
This regiment started as Infanterie Regiment Osnabrück and was renamed into IR37 when the Reichswehr became the Wehrmacht in October 1935. Th regiment was part of the 6.Infanterie-Division and saw its first combat during the invasion of France in May 1940 by crossing the border of Luxembourg and then Belgium. The III.Bataillon (9.-14.Kompanie) of the regiment was used to form Infanterie Regiment 239 and a new III.Bataillon was build straight after.
After the battle in France the regiment participated in the invasion of Russia that took place in June 1941. It fought in areas like Witebsk, Rshew, Smolensk, Orel, Gomel.
