Very nice unit marked aluminium Heer buckle with leather tab from a hard to find maker!
The buckle is in excellent condition. Both the buckle and the leather tab are maker marked by 'Klein und Quenzer A.G.' from 'Idar-Oberstein' and dated '1937'.
The leather tab is also beautiful unit marked '6.Kompanie.II.Batallion-Infanterie-Regiment 86'. This regiment was formed in late October 1936 in Mühlhausen and was part of the 29.Infanterie-Division. It was put into action during the invasion of Poland in September 1939.
In April 1940 the regiment was renamed into Schützen Regiment 86 and became part of the 10.Panzer-Division. In May 1940 the division and her units participated in the invasion of France. After France it saw action on the Russian front and fought in areas like Minsk, Smolensk, Moskau and Juchnow. In May 1942 the division moved to France for rest.
In July 1942 the regiment was renamed into Panzergrenadier Regiment 86 and together with the divison was transport to Afrika (Tunisia). It was destroyed in May 1943 and not rebuild afterwards.
