Very nice handmade vintage 'Nashorn' model in good condition.
The model is extremely detailed and almost entirely made from wood. The maker used (painted) Dutch coins of the Thirties (1/2 cent) for the two front and back sprockets of the tank. The tracks are made of some sort of iron (maybe old wristwatch bands?). The wheels are solid attached to the tank and cannot be moved. It is possible to move the gun barrel up and down.
The model was build by a young Dutch man. He started building these models during the war, hiding for the Germans in in the City of Leeuwarden (Netherlands). He used, among else, magazines like the 'Signaal' and 'Die Wehrmacht' as reference material. The size is approx: 13cm * 6cm * 5,5cm.
Very unique item and a nice eyecatcher in any display cabinet.
