The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. The abteilung was formed in August 1939 and was part of Division 158. The Regimentsstab of Kavallerie Regiment 8 was used to form the Stamm personnel of the Ersatz Abteilung. The abteilung trained and supplied soldiers for Kavallerie Regiment 8 and later for different Aufklärungs Abteilungen. In February 1940 the Stamm personnel was used to form the 3.Radfahr Ersatz Schwadron 213 which was part of the 213.Infanterie-Division.
A new Stamm-Schwadron of Kavallerie Ersatz Abteilung 8 was formed in September 1942.
The unit has a very rich history!
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldiers bloodtype.
