Nice zinc Wehrmacht infanterie related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served/was drafted in the Stammkompanie Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 220. This unit was formed in late August 1939 in Rendsburg. It trained and supplied soldiers for Infanterie Regiment 220 which was part of the 58.Infanterie-Division. This divison saw combat during the invasion of France and from june 1941 on it operated in Russia were it fought in areas like Leningrad, Oranienbaum, Demjansk, Newel and later in Narwa, Estonia.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
