Very nice Wehrmacht infanterie related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier (NCO) who served within the Stabskompanie II.Bataillon Infanterie regiment 376. This regiment was formed in late August 1939 and was part of the 225.Infanterie-Division. The regiment saw it's first combat during the invasion of the Netherlands (Nijmegen area) that started on the 10th of May 1940 and pushed all the way through to Belgium were it was put into action against 'Festung Antwerpen'.
After the Western Campaign the Division stayed in France and operated as a costal guard unit in Le Havre. In early 1942 it moved to the eastern front and operated in areas like Wolchow, Leningrag, Demjansk and Ilmensee. The regiment was renamed into Grenadier Regiment 376 in October 1942. It later also operated in Narwa, Livland and Kurland.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
Nice staff-level tag!
