Very nice aluminium Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a NCO/CO who served within the Stabskompanie I.Bataillon Infanterie Regiment 54. This regiment was also know as Infanterie Regiment Glogau during the Reichswehr period. It was part of the 18.Infanterie-Division and it saw its first action during the invasion of Poland in September 1939. After that it participated in the invasion of Belgium (May 1940) and pushed through to Dunkirk, France.
In November 1940 the I.Bataillon was used to form the II.Bataillon Infanterie Regiment 51 which was also part of the same division. A new I.Bataillon of regiment 54 was formed straight after and was now part of the 100.leichte Infanterie-Division. At this point the 'Waffenfarbe' or branch color was changed to Green. In April 1942 the regiment was renamed into Jäger Regiment 54. It was destroyed in the Stalingrad area.
Nice Staff-level related tag.
