Very nice Wehrmacht Gebirgsjager related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the Stabskompanie I.Bataillon Gebirgsjäger Ersatz Regiment 136. This regiment was formed in February 1940 in Innbruck. The regiment formed the Stab for the Ersatz Bataillons that were part of the 2.Gebirgs-Divison. The bataillons that were part of Gebirgsjäger Ersatz Regiment 136 were Gebirgsjäger Ersatz Bataillon I, II and III 136 and 137.
Parts of Regiment 136 was put into action in Yugoslavia during the Balkan campaign. In October 1943 the regiment was moved to Northen Italy and was renamed into Reserve Gebirgsjäger Regient 136 and in March 1945 it was used to form Gebirgsjäger Regiment 901 which was part of the 188.Gebirgs-Division. During this time the regiment had the task for the coastal defence.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
