The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the Stabsbatterie Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung 40. This unit was formed in August 1939 in Bautzen. It was a heavy unit. It trained and supplied soldiers for different units such as Heeres Kustenartillerie Abteilung 504, Heeres Kustenartillerie Regiments 973 and 977, Artillerie Abteilung 757, 1140, 1197 and 16! different Artillerie Abteilungen.
Very nice Staff-level tag.
