The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to member who served within the Luftgau XII Luftschutzort 12 Sicherheits-und Hilfsdienst. The main task of the SHD was to provide assistance in the event of personal injury and damage to property as a result of air raids and to maintain peace and order.
From early 1942 on the SHD became motorized units and became part of the Luftwaffe.
