Very nice Wehrmacht Infanterie related Anschluss 1 Oktober 1938 award document set in used, but good condition.
Both documents shows overall normal signs of wear. The medal was awarded to Schützen Oskar Bauer who served within Schützen Regiment 64. It was awarded on the 15th of August 1940. This regiment was formed in October 1935 and was part of the the 16.Infanterie-Division (Der Windhund). This division saw its first combat during the invasion of France that took place in May 1940. In August 1940 the regiment was renamed into Schützen Regiment 64 and in July 1942 into Panzer Grenadier Regiment 64.
The document is signed by Oberst und Regiments Kommandeur Rudolf Höfer. Rudolf earned the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold in 1942 and became a Generalmajor in March 1944.
The other document is a message/letter to the sister of Oskar saying that the company is enclosing a medal commemorating 1 October 1938 together with a certificate. Please destroy the previous certificate issued to your brother earlier.
