Werner earned the Ritterkreuz on the 29th of May 1940, the Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub on the 21st of Sepember 1940, the Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub und Schwerten on the 22nd of June 1941 and the Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub, Schwerten und Brillanten on the 15th of July 1941. He also earned the Frontflugspange in Gold, EK1, EK2, Spanienkreuz and 11! x the Wehrmachtbericht.
