The photograph shows overall normal signs of (storage) wear. Marked on the back with 'Nur fur den Dienstgebrauch' and by the unit 'Luftwaffe Kriegsberichten Kompanie (mot) 7'.
Heymer earned the Ritterkreuz in April 1941 as Staffelkapitän2.(H) StaffelAufklärungsgruppe 14. This unit was since the beginning of 1942 active in Afrika, so this photograph of Heymer was probably taken in this year. Heymer was killed in action in late February 1943.
