Very nice press photograph in very good condition of Knight's Cross winner Major Bernhard Jope.
The photograph shows overall normal signs of (storage) wear. It's complete with caption on the back. The photograph was taken when Major Jope was the Kommodore of Kampfgeschwader 100.
Bernhard earned the Ritterkreuz on the 30th of Decemeber 1940, the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold in February 1942 and the Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub in late March 1944. Major Jope was responsible for the sinking of the Steam Ocean Liner HMS Empress of Britain on the 26th of October 1940.
In 1943 Bernhard operated in the skies above Italy and attacked British and American ships by using the Fritz X which was the first precision guided weapon used in combat.
