The photograph shows overall normal signs of (storage) wear. It's complete with caption on the back. The moment the photo was taken Günther was commander of the U47.
Günther earned the Ritterkreuz in October 1939 as the commander of U47. making him the first U-Boot soldier who was awarded the Ritterkreuz and the second one in the entire Kriegsmarine. In October 1940 Wolfgang was awarded the Eichenlaub (for the Ritterkreuz) as commander of U47.
The size of the photograph is 13cm*18cm. Dated September 1940.
