Very nice press photograph in good condition of Hauptmann Helmut Liessmann.
The photograph shows overall normal signs of (storage) wear. It's complete with caption on the back. The moment the photograph was taken Helmut was Führer of the III.Bataillon Grenadier Regiment 731 which was part of the 711.Infanterie-Division. This division and her units operated in the French area of Lisieux and Normandy in 1944.
After Normandy the division moved to the Netherlands to rest and get back to strenght.
According to the caption on the back Helmet earned the Ritterkreuz due to his actions, probably in Normandy and was awarded the Ritterkreuz on the 14th of November 1944. Looking at the typical Dutch brickwall on the background, we think this photograph was taken in the Netherlands.
The size of the photograph is 12cm*17cm.
