Very nice press photograph in very good condition of Hauptmann Gunther Marreck.
The photograph shows overall normal signs of (storage) wear. It's complete with caption on the back. The moment the photo was taken Günther was the commander commander of the II.Bataillon Grenadier Regiment 422.
Günther earned the Ritterkreuz in late April 1944. He Also earned the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold a year earlier in July 1943.
Besides these awards Günther also eanred the HJ-Ehrenzeichen in Gold, Nahkampfspange in Bronze, Infanterie Sturmabzeichen and more.
In the final fase of the war Günther was the commander of the 1. Panzervernichtungsbrigade „Hitlerjugend“ and in April 1945 commander of the Hitlerjugend-Volksturm-Brigade „Spandau“
