Gerd earned the Ritterkreuz on the 30th of September 1939. He earned the Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub in July 1944 and the Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub und Schwerten in February 1945. Besides these he earned a lot more medals and awarded during his carreer.
