The moment the photo was taken Thomas was the commanding General of the X.Armeekorps.
Thomas earned the Ritterkreuz on the 14th August 1940 as Oberstleutnant and commander of Infanterie Regiment 4 which was part of the 32.Infanterie-Division. He earned the Knight's Cross for his actions during the Invasion of Poland.
The size of the photograph is 13cm*18cm. Dated 03.02.1944.
