Very nice press photograph in very good condition of Generalmajor Franz Gall.
The photograph shows overall normal signs of (storage) wear. It's complete with caption on the back that reads 'The defender of elba'.
The moment the photo was taken Franz was the commander of the Verteidigungs-Abschnitt Elba. Elba is a Italian island near the coast of Tuscany where an invasion, of the Free French Forces, took place between 17-19 June 1944.
Franz earned the Ritterkreuz on the 19th of June 1944. The size of the photograph is 13cm*18cm. Dated 14 July 1944.
There is not a lot of Invasion of Elba related items on the market.
