According to the soldbuch Jens Cars was drafted into the 1.Komapnie Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 588 and after training served within Grenadier regiment 595. This regiment was part of the 327.Infanterie-Division and during that period fought on the eastern front in areas like Kursk, Kiev and Shitomir. In late 1943 the regiment was disbanned and remnants formed Regimentsgruppe 595. Divisiongruppe 327 was formed and Regimentsgruppe 595 became part of it under the command of the staff of Grenadier Regiment 597. Divisiongruppe 327 then became part of the 340.Infanterie-Division.
Looking at the award document of the woundbadge, Jens must have been part of this Divisiongruppe 327 as the document refers to Infanterie Regiment 597. Jens earned to medal for his wound he got on the 9th of Januari 1944.
The grouping also comes with a very nice black woundbadge or Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz which is in very good condition, a Sonderausweis dated 27 March 1945 and a Studentika Bierzipfel.
