Very nice Wehrmacht Reiternachrichten Zug Infanterie related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the Regiments Nachrichtenzug Infanterie Regiment 44. This regiment was formed in October 1935 and was part of the 11.Infanterie-Division. It saw its first combat during the invasion of Poland in September 1939 and in 1940 operated as an occupation force on the Atlantic coast in France.
In June 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia and operated in areas like Wolchow and Ladoga. In October 1942 the regiment was renamed into Grenadier Regiment 44. From the summer of 1943 on it fought in the Leningrad area and later in Narwa and Kurland.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
