The overall condition of the dogtag is good. The number 263742 tell us the soldier served in the Unterstab Sturm-Bataillon der Fallschirm-Armee. This unit was formed within the 1.Fallschirm Armee in November 1944 with 5 companies.
At that time the Headquarters of the 1.Fallschirm Armee was stationed in Dinxperlo, Holland. After fighting on Dutch soil it participated in the Reichswald battles and after that in the Rheine and Xanten area and last in the Ems and Weser area.
On the back of the tag a POW number has been carved in, very shallow, by the soldier 'A78**704'.
Interesting late war created unit.
