The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 'Umschulungsbatterie schwere Artillerie Ersatz und Ausbilduns Abteilung motorisiert 50'. This abteilung was formed in late august 1939 in Leipzig. It trained and supplied soldiers for Heeres Festungs Artillerie Abteilung 1050, 8 different Artillerie Abteilungen and 5 different Artillerie Regiments.
An 'Umschulingsbatterie' was probably a retraining batterie for a different weapons system and/or gun.
