Very nice and decorative 'Geschwader Boelcke' remembrance wall plaque in good condition.
The plaque (most likely reattached) shows overall normal signs of ageing. It shows the beautiful insignia of the 'Geschwader Boelcke' unit on the front.
It was a present from an 'Hauptmann u. Staffelkapitán' to 'Unteroffizier Hoch'for his fighting with the unit in 'Russia, 1941' (hence the caption saying: 'Zur Erinnerung an die Stabsstaffel K.G.Boelcke, Nr.27. Rusland im Jahre 1941'.
The measurements of the wooden frame are 28cm * 19,5cm.
Geschwader Boelcke' (or 'Kampfgeschwader 27 Boelcke') was a medium bomber wing that saw action throughout the war. It participated in the invasion of Poland, Belgium, France and fought during the Battle of Britain and the invasion of Russia (Operation Barbarosa). It also defended the Third Reich at the end of the war.
Check also the nice officers Cufftitle we offer from this unit.
