Rare zinc made Commemorative Gebirgs-Pionier-Bataillon 54 'Kaukasus 1942-43' Pendant or 'Tragbares Erinnerungsabzeichen'.
The condition of the medal is used but very good and solid. It presents the divisional emblem on one side and an military route (Kluchor-Elbrus-Tuapse) in the caucasus on the other side.
This pendant was awared to an Gebirgsjäger within the 'Gebirgs-Pionier-Bataillon 54'. The first kompanie of this bataillon was formed in October 1936 and was part of the Gebirgs-Brigade. A year later another companie was formed. During the annexation of Austria the 1.Kompanie became temporarily part of Gebirgsjager Regiment 98 and the 2.Kompanie of Gebirgsjager Regiment 99. In April 1938 the Gebirgs-Brigade became the 1.Gebirgs-Division and the pionier bataillon was still part of this division. With the division it saw combat in different theatres of the war such as, invasion of Poland, France, Yugoslavia, Russia, Greece, Serbia and Hungary. The bataillon has a very rich history!
