Very nice Wehrmacht Pionier related 4 years service award document in very good condition.

The document shows overall normal signs of wear. The medal was awarded on the 2nd of October 1936 to Hauptmann Harri Bernhardt who served in the 2.Kompanie Pionier Bataillon 8. This bataillon has a long and interesting pre war history which can be found online. It was part of the 8.Infanterie-Division and saw its first action during the invasion of Poland. After Poland it moved west and participated in the invasion of Belgium and France.
In December 1940 the 2.Kompanie was used, to form Pionier Bataillon 102 which was part of the 102.Infanterie-Division and was put into action on the eastern front.
