Nice dark brown Wehrmacht map case or 'Meldekartentasche' in used, but good condition.
The map case shows overall signs of use. The leather is solid, complete with all the straps and its supple. On the right bottom corner the thread has come loose a bit. Nicely named to a soldier called Ehme Hillerns from Aurich and marked with an feldpost nr. '09422' which means Ehme served in the 1.Kompanie Panzerabwehr Abteilung 20. This unit was formed in October 1935 in Hamburg. In March 1940 it was renamed into Panzerjäger Abteilung 20. This unit was part of the 20.Infanterie-Division and saw its first combat during the invasion of Poland. After Poland it moved to the West and participated in the invasion of the Low Countries. Via Holland it fought in Belgium, Flandern and then in Dunkirk. After the West campaign it moved East and participated in Operation Barbarossa. It fought in areas like Bialystok,Minsk,Wolchow and Welish. In 1943 the division was renamed into 20.Panzergrenadier-Division. It still operated in Russia.
