Interesting Wehrmacht Pionier related close combat clasp award document grouping in used condition.

The grouping shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a Obergefreiten Josef Matuszak who served in the 1.Kompanie Pionier Bataillon 306. This bataillon was formed in late October 1940 and was part of the 306.Infanterie-Division. It first operated as an occupation force on the Belgium coast before it moved to the east in November 1942. It fought in areas like Don, Mius and Nikopol. In August 1944 the bataillon was destroyed. 
The grouping was recently found and consist out;

  • Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen award document issued on the 3.October 1943 (heavily worn piece).
  • Eisernes Kreuz 2.Klasse award document issued on the 24.October 1943. Signed by Generalleitnant und Divisionskommandeur Karl-Erik Köhler.
  • Nahkampfspange 1.Stufe (bronze) award document issued on the 24.April 1944. 
  • Portrait photo of Josef Matuszak
  • 32 Photographs. Came from the same household as the rest.
