Very nice Nachrichtenzug III.Abteilung Artillerie Regiment 26 dog tag in used, but very good condition.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 'Nachrichtenzug III.Abteilung Artillerie Regiment 26.
The I and II.Abteilung of this regiment was formed in August 1936 in Dusseldorf and the III.Abteilung was formed in October 1937. The regiment was part of the 26.Infanterie-Division and was put into action during the invasion of Belgium and France. In June 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia and saw combat in areas like Kalinin, Rshew, Orel, Donbogen, Kursk and Smolensk. In August 1944 the regiment was destroyed in the area of Kowel.
The regiment was reformed again in September 1944 and became part of the 26.Volks-Grenadier-Division and was put into action during the battles of the Ardennes.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
