Very nice Wehrmacht Artillerie related tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the Nachrichten Zug 1.Batterie Artillerie Regiment 116. This regiment was formed in late November 1938 and was part of the 5.Panzer-Division. This divison saw its first action during the invasion of Poland in September 1939. After Poland it participated in the invasion of France and in early 1941 it operated in the Balkans and Greece. In the second half of 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia and fought in areas like Gshatsk, Rshew, Orel, Gomel and Pripjet. In March 1942 the regiment was renamed into Panzer Artillerie Regiment 116.
The 'B' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
