The soldbuch shows overall signs of wear. The pass is still pretty solid and complete with all pages. Friedrich Schmalenberg was a World War 1 veteran and a Wachtmeister.
In October 1939 he served within Nachschubbezirk Dortmund Munitions Ausgabestelle Südmühle. From July 1941 till August 1942 he served with the Leichte Flak Ersatz Abteilung 94 and the Reserve Flak Abteilung 166. After that he switched back to Nachschubbezirk Dortmund Feldluftmunitionslager 12/VI. Friedrich was hospatilized a couple of times and according to his records because he had severe rheumatism.
During his WW1 period Friedrich was award the EK2, Frontkampfer Ehrenkreuz and the Ungarische Tapferkeitsmedaille.
