The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the Luftnachrichten Kompanie (motorisiert) Fliegerhorst Brieg. This was a communication unit of the HQ of the Fliegerhorst Brieg which was situated near Niederschlesien (nowadays Poland).
This airfield was mainly used for tactical reconnaissance training during the war, but it was also the base for some active/fighting units such as the Aufklärungsgruppe 113, Schlachtfliegergruppe 10, Aufklärungsgruppe 31, Aufklärungsgruppe 131 and Sturzkampfgeschwader 77.
