The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the Luftnachrichten Kompanie Leithorst Stendal. This was a communication unit of the HQ of the Fliegerhorst Stendal. 'Leithorst' means that this was the controlling airfield in the region. Other airfields in the same region fell under the Leit(flieger)horst.
Fliegerhorst Stendal was the home for many different Wehrmacht units, but mostly known for the training centre of Fallschirm-Jäger-Ergänzungs-Regiment 1 and 2, Fallschirm-Jäger-Ersatz- u. Ausbildungs-Bataillon Stendal, Fallschirm-Schule 2 and Fallschirm-Genesenden-Bataillon Stendal. And also the base of Fallschirmjäger Regiment 1.
The 'O' on both sides of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
