Nice zinc Wehrmacht Landesschützen related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in Landesschützen Bataillon 712. This unit was formed in August 1939 in Hildesheim as Landesschützen Bataillon XII/XI. In April 1940 the bataillon became bataillon 712. In August 1942 the bataillon was disbanned.
The Landesschützen units had as main task to guard prisoner of war camps, fighting partisans and were used as occupation force. Later during the war they often became Sicherungs units.
