Very nice and harder to find Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger K-Staffel related tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It's made out of edelstahl. It belonged to a soldier who served within the K-Staffel Fallschirmjäger Aufklärungs Abteilung 12. This abteilung fell under the command of the II.Fallschirm-Korps.
During the Normandy invasion in 1944 the unit saw heavy combat in the St.Lo area and later in the Falaise pocket where it got surrounded, but was rescued by the II.SS-Panzer-Korps. It then moved to Kleve (Germany) to strengthen and saw combat again during Operation Market Garden in the Groesbeek area.
A 'K-Staffel' or 'Kraftfahr-Staffel' was a small unit within the abteilung that was responsible for the maintenance of the vehicles, operation and use of motor vehicles. This type of unit played an important role in logistical support, transporting troops and performing other support tasks.
Within other Wehrmacht Heer units such a unit is called a Werkstatt-Kompanie.
Harder to find FJ related tag.
