Very nice aluminium Wehrmacht Infanteriegeschutz related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the Infanteriegeschütz Ersatz Kompanie Infanterie Ersatz Regiment 31. This regiment was formed in late August 1939 in Braunschweig. It trained and supplied soldiers for the 31.Infanterie-Division. This division saw its first combat during the invasion of Poland. After that it moved to the west and participated in the invasion of France. From June 1941 on it operated in Russia and saw action in areas like Smolensk, Tula , Moskau, Juchnow, Gomel and more.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
