Very nice documents grouping of a soldier that served in Infanterie-Regiment Osnabruck (37).

The overall condition of all documents is very good. It belonged to Friedrich Schilling who served in 16.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment Osnabruck which later was renamed Infanterie Regiment 37. This regiment was formed 1934 during the Reichswehr period. Since the beginning it fell under the command of the 6.Infanterie-Division. It first came in combat on the 10th of may 1040 during the invasion of Belgium and later France. In September 1940 the Division and its units were ordered to prepare for Operation Seelowe, the invasion of England, but this was later cancelled.
In June 1941 it participated in Operation Barbarossa and fought the rest of the war on the eastern front in areas like Rshew,Smolensk,Kursk and Orel. 
The grouping consist out of the following documents;

  • A small folder of Friedrichs shooting booklets. For the light MG, K98 and Pisto
  • Schutzwall Ehrenzeichen award document. Awarded on 30 March 1940
  • Ostmedaille award document. Awarded on 14 March 1944
  • Eiserne Kreuz 2.Klasse award document. Awarded on 16 December 1942 and signed by Generalmajor Horst Grossmann. Wearer of the Ritterkreuz (1941) with Eichenlaub (1943)
  • Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz award document. Awarded on 5 April 1943.
