Very nice Deutsche Schutzwall Ehrenzeichen or 'Westwall' award document in very good condition.

The document shows overall normal signs of wear. It was awarded to Unteroffizier Schlitt who served in a company of Infanterie Regiment 116. It was awarded on 20 March 1940. This regiment was part of the 9.Infanterie-Division and saw its first combat during the invasion of Luxemburg and then France. It later fought on the eastern front.
The document is signed by Oberst und Regimentskomandeur Friedrich Herrlein who later became a Generalmajor and earned the Ritterkreuz in September 1941.
