The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the Pionier Ersatz Kompanie Infanterie Ersatz Regiment 69. This ersatz regiment was formed in late August 1939 in Soest and trained and supplied soldiers for units within the 69.Infanterie-Division. In November 1942 the regiment was renamed into Grenadier Ersatz Regiment 69 and in January 1943 moved to Denmark. In October it was renamend into Reserve Grenadier Regiment 69 and operated in the area of Aalborg, Denmark as part of the 166.Reserve-Division.
