Very nice zinc Wehrmacht Infanterie Pionier related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the Pionier Ersatz Kompanie Infanterie Ersatz Regiment 269. This ersatz regiment was formed in late August 1939 in Oldenburg and trained and supplied soldiers for units within the 269.Infanterie-Division. In November 1942 the regiment was renamed into Grenadier Ersatz Regiment 269 and in 1944 it was renamed into Grenadier Ersatz und Ausbildungs Regiment 269. It was mobilized in September 1944 and transported to the Netherlands and put into action in the Arnhem area.
In November 1944 the regiment was used to form Grenadier Regiment 1233 which was part of the 180.Infanterie-Division.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
