Very nice zinc Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the Infanterie ersatz Bataillon 489. This unit was formed in September 1939 in Oldenburg. It trained and supplied soldiers for Infanterie Regiment 489 which was part of the 296.Infanterie-Division. This division saw its first combat during the invasion of Belgium and then France. After France it moved to Denmark and later fought in Russia in the areas of Pleskau, Leningrad and Ladoga-See.
The 'Blgr'. on both parts of the tag stands for 'Blutgruppe', but this was not filled in.
