Very nice Normandy campaign related German press photograph in very good condition.
The photograph shows overall normal signs of storage wear. It's complete with paper caption on the back. It shows the commander Admiral Krancke of Marine-gruppenkommando West and his staff standing in front of a large map. The photograph was taken during the Allied operation Overlord that started on the 6th of June 1944.
Admiral Theodor Krancke earned the Ritterkreuz on the 21st of February 1941 as commander of the Admiral Scheer and on the 18th of October 1944 he was awarded the Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub as coommander of Marine-Gruppenkomando West.
The photograph was released on the 7th of July 1944 (a month after the start of the invasion). The size of the photograph is 13cms*18ms.
