Very nice zinc Flak Regiment 4 dog tag in used, but good condition.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 'II.Abteilung Flak Regiment 4 Nachkommando'. The abteilung of this regiment was formed in 1936 in Dortmund. It participated in the invasion of France in 1940 in Calais and Dunkirk. In June 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia with Heeresgruppe Mitte and fought in areas like Rshew and Newel. In late 1944 it was stationed in the Kurland area and in 1945 in Danzig.
This soldier served in the II.Abteilung Nachkommando. This was a small unit of soldiers who remains at the old location for a short time when the unit is relocated in order to solve problems arising from the relocation.
Interesting to mention is that the soldier carved his Prisoner of War (PoW) number 'A/522610' on the back of the tag.
Interesting unit/dog tag.
