Very nice aluminium I.Abteilung 1.Batterie Artillerie Regiment 376 dog tag in used, but good condition.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 'I.Abteilung 1.Batterie Artillerie Regiment 376'. It was formed in August 1942 in France and was part of the 376.Infanterie-Division. It was sent to Russia to fight in the Stalingrad area were it got destroyed in January 1943.
A new Artillerie Regiment 376 was formed in February 1943 in the Netherlands and was again part of the (newly formed) 376.Infanterie-Division. It was send to Ukraine were it got destroyed in August 1944.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldiers bloodtype.
