The overall condition of the photograph is excellent. Printed on Mimosa paper by 'Hans Schulz Photograph' from Rostock. The size is 9cm x 14cm.
The soldier served in a kompanie of Infanterie Regiment 71. This regiment was formed in August 1936 and was part of the 29.Infanterie-Division. It saw combat during the invasion of Poland and after that in France. In May 1941 it moved to the east and fought in areas like Minsk, Smolensk, Orel and Charkow. After that it fought in the Stalingrad area where it got destroyed. Grenadier Regiment 71 (mot) was rebuild again (in France) as was the 29th division which was now called the 29.Panzergrenadier-Division. In July 1943 it was send to Italy where it fought the rest of the war.
